There are 10 train stations which serve key neighbourhoods within the borough providing direct connections to London Victoria, London Bridge, London Blackfriars and St Pancras International. Sutton also has direct rail connections with Epsom, Dorking, Guildford and Horsham, as well as Wimbledon for an interchange with the London Underground and West Croydon for the London Overground. There’s also an extensive road network which provides close and easy access to the M25 and M23.About the Role and our Ideal CandidateAre you a passionate and skilled professional in health or social care? Are you looking for an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to individuals transitioning from hospital to home? London Borough of Sutton is looking for an Assistant Supervisor to lead and support our dedicated team in providing exceptional care and rehabilitation.As an Assistant Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a small team of Senior and Support workers, including supervision, appraisals, and managing sickness and other absence.
  • Hold your own caseload and participate in a duty rota to triage all incoming referrals and provide support to your colleagues with day-to-day queries.

As an Assistant Supervisor within the START team, you will play a critical role in delivering hands-on care and support, while also supervising and mentoring a multidisciplinary team. Your leadership will inspire team members to provide compassionate, person-centered care, and your expertise will be essential in managing high-pressure situations effectively. Your role will be vital in helping individuals access the support they need to enhance their quality of life and well-being.If you are passionate about making a difference, have strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships and can show empathy and sensitivity towards individuals facing difficult circumstances, we want to hear from you.The ideal candidate will have:

  • An NVQ 3 in Social Care or equivalent
  • Managerial experience to supervise a team
  • Considerable experience of the hands on delivery of health or social care services, ideally within Adults Social Care services and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • You must be able to work in a fast paced service supporting people on discharge from hospital to maximise their independence
  • Confident nature to managing crisis situations effectively to prevent hospital admissions
  • Experienced in moving and handling risk assessment assistive equipment
