Position Description
Applications are invited for a one-year, limited-term position in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Area (ENTI) in the Haskayne School of Business (HSB) at the University of Calgary. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor (Teaching). The appointment start date is January 1st, 2025. Contingent on budget and area needs, this appointment may be renewable for one year.
Duties of the position include teaching entrepreneurship and innovation courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and providing professional service for the HSB, the University, and the community. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in research and scholarship required to maintain currency in pedagogy and curriculum design, as well as scholarly activities that strengthen the knowledge base and expertise of an instructor. Salary will depend on qualifications, experience, and a teaching record.
Qualifications
Faculty in the ENTI Area (https://haskayne.ucalgary.ca/research-and-faculty/academic-areas/entrepreneurship-and-innovation) at the Haskayne School of Business are engaged in inter-disciplinary research and teaching related to a wide spectrum of topics within the broad entrepreneurship and innovation domain. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, innovative, collaborative, growth-oriented team dedicated to developing and disseminating impactful, thought-provoking research and education in entrepreneurship and innovation. The role involves contributing to the development of cutting-edge interdisciplinary entrepreneurship programs, fostering a growth-oriented environment that empowers students to excel in the rapidly evolving fields of entrepreneurship and innovation. We expect candidates for the position to meet the following requirements:
• Formal business education (an MBA or equivalent degree) is required;
• A PhD or DBA degree in management, entrepreneurship or a related field is preferred;
• Evidence of effective teaching in the area of entrepreneurship and innovation at the post-secondary level, as demonstrated by excellent student evaluations, is required;
• Expertise in entrepreneurship and innovation with industry experience is an asset;
• Evidence of the application of experiential teaching methodologies is required;
• Experience with project-based courses and mentoring project teams is required;
• Evidence of successful course development at the post-secondary level is an asset;
• Expertise in the use of virtual learning resources and practices is an asset;
• Administrative skills required to coordinate multi-section courses;
• Evidence of successful teamwork and a collegial approach to interacting with colleagues, students, and other stakeholders;
• Willingness to engage in service to the school, University, and profession.
