We recognize that African Nova Scotians are a distinct people whose histories, legacies and contributions have enriched that part of Mi’kma’ki known as Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

Established in 1982, the School of Occupational Therapy is housed within the Faculty of Health and serves all four Atlantic provinces. Its regional mandate fosters collaboration among academic partners, service providers, government agencies, and communities, while its international engagement supports diverse research partnerships. Known for its theory-driven approach, commitment to social justice, and diverse educational approaches, the School of Occupational Therapy’s Strategic Plan, which aligns with that of the Faculty of Health and Dalhousie University, guides realization of our vision of transforming everyday lives. Our mission is to deliver radically inclusive and dynamic education, research, and occupational therapy practice that impacts everyday lives. From a values perspective, we pursue justice and equity in all we do, we foster inclusion and belonging for everyone, we engage in collaborative and reciprocal relationships, and we commit to being proactive, responsive, and transformative.

Located in the Forrest Building on Dalhousie’s Carleton campus, the School of Occupational Therapy provides students with access to internationally recognized faculty and a learning environment grounded in collaborative inquiry, social accountability, and meaningful engagement.
