Idaho National Laboratory is hiring an Architectural Historian (Project Hire) to work on our Environmental Safety Health and Quality team. Our team works a 9×80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.
position Overview:
The Architectural Historian is responsible for managing and evaluating historic properties, objects, and landscapes within the built environment of the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). This includes ensuring compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), preserving INL’s historic record through oral history and heritage documentation, and supporting the INL mission through expert cultural resource management.
The position requires regular collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of archaeologists, architectural historians, archivists, environmental staff, scientists, engineers, and project managers, as well as communication with external customers and stakeholders. Work is conducted under general direction with considerable autonomy, requiring strong judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle complex projects with diverse scopes.

Level 3: A master’s degree in architecture history, historic preservation, history or related field and (2) years of relevant experience.

Job Information:
The pay range for this position is: Level 2 ($79,344 – $162,732) / Level 3 ($95,256 – $195,288). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
