Position Summary
The Hits department is looking for a new application specialist to take on the roles of EPIC Cogito Administrator and SQL Database Administrator on the Integration and Software Solutions team.
The Application Specialists are responsible for the administration of software solutions. This can include the configuration and administration of software systems in support of the end user, the design and development of custom software solutions using a wide variety of development tools and database technologies and ensuring that appropriate standards, education, processes, systems and structures are applied. The Application Specialist will compile user requirements and analyze, specify, and validate client needs. This includes interviewing stakeholders and applying analytical and project management skills to ensure that deliverables are met. You will analyze and troubleshoot complex technical problems and assist in the optimization of applications and the improvement of business processes.
In the role of Epic Cogito Administrator you will be responsible for the implementation, administration, maintenance, support and development aspects of all of the Epic Cogito infrastructure including the Clarity data repository, the Caboodle SQL warehouse and the Slicer Dicer self-service reporting tool. This will include monitoring and troubleshooting extract jobs, resolving data issues, managing system configurations, applying upgrades, developing integrations, and managing security. You will participate in all architecture, design and integration aspects of the relevant tools and the associated development and enhancement lifecycle. As part of this role you will be expected to attend Epic training and obtain your Cogito Administrator certification within 3 months of your start date.
As a member of the database administration team you will also assist with the SQL Database Administration duties for the Epic SQL databases as well as other Microsoft SQL instances in our farm. You will help plan, design, investigate, test and implement database solutions. You will also monitor existing databases and you will help to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues. You will work closely with HHS project team members as well as many vendors during implementation and also for long-term support.HHS is a flexible hybrid work environment and there will be an expectation for you to be onsite in Hamilton as scheduled. - Successful completion of either a University Degree or College Diploma in an IT or Health Care related field or equivalent experience
- 3+ years experience working in an IT related field is required
- 3+ years experience working in Health Care IT is preferred
- Epic Clarity and Caboodle administration certification is preferred or must be obtained within 3 months of hire date.
- Demonstrated Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Administration concepts (configuration, backups, maintenance)
- Demonstrated knowledge of hospital information systems is preferred
- Demonstrated planning, analytical and interpretative skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team and a strong commitment to the client. Ability to maintain a professional attitude in demanding situations
- Demonstrated ability to utilize initiative, vision, independent thinking and creative problem-solving abilities to implement project plans and provide issue resolution
- Demonstrated proficiency in time management and the ability to work effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines, balance work priorities and resolve problems in a timely manner
