The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Administration and Support Services, the Accreditation Manager manages the department’s national accreditation process to include ensuring compliance, training, and various presentations to department personnel; coordinates the accreditation processes for the Department of Public Safety; and conducts regular reviews with command staff and revises department policy and procedures manuals to ensure standard operating procedures are best practices and meet all current Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) standards, legislative mandates, and judicial rulings.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the accreditation processes for the Department of Public Safety; conducts regular reviews with command staff and revises department policy and procedures manuals to ensure standard operating procedures meet all current Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) standards, legislative mandates, and judicial rulings.
  • Identifies and verifies compliance with established public safety industry standards, correcting any noted deficiencies through policy, training, or administrative measures; stays abreast of proposed CALEA changes and assesses their impact on current policies and procedures.
  • Manages all facets of the accreditation process, agency policy, and administrative orders to ensure all documentation and proof necessary for accreditation are in compliance with standards; oversees assessments, evaluates efficiency, and prepares the agency for mock and on-site reviews.
  • Updates and revises Policies and Procedures, including computerized systems, training documentation, and CALEA proofs; writes and reviews new or revised policies to ensure compliance, and maintains a standard review schedule.
  • Coordinates with Command Staff, Human Resources, and General Counsel for policy proofing to ensure adherence to applicable laws and University policy.
  • Recommends and/or develops training programs and conducts employee orientation sessions to assist staff in understanding accreditation requirements.
  • Manages Power DMS and other computerized software to support CALEA documentation and ensure accurate, accessible records.
  • Performs complex administrative and professional assistance work in planning, coordinating, and maintaining police department and emergency communication center accreditation.
  • Acts as a liaison between police administration, department employees, and outside agencies in all accreditation efforts; represents the Department of Public Safety at meetings related to the accreditation process.
  • Conducts research and planning, assists with presentations, and regularly reports to the Assistant Vice President, Administration and Support Services on accreditation compliance.
  • Uses excellent customer service skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, and the public.
  • Assists with accreditation-related activities not otherwise assigned (e.g., job task analysis, succession planning, and related programs).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 3-5 years of related professional security or law enforcement experience.
  • Must be fluent in CALEA Accreditation standards and proof of compliance.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information with exceptional judgment and discretion.
  • Must possess demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Writing skills may be required.
  • Strong computer skills, including high proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word.
  • Proven ability to work in a client-service environment required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree preferred (e.g., master’s degree in public administration, etc.).
