We are seeking an experienced and motivated Accounting Supervisor to provide leadership and operational oversight within a high-performing finance team located near Claverack, NY.In this key role, you’ll guide daily accounting operations, support accurate and timely financial reporting, and contribute to process improvements that drive efficiency and compliance.Responsibilities of the Accounting Supervisor will include:

• Supervise and coordinate day-to-day accounting functions to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Drive process improvements and help develop best practices for accounting procedures.
• Create and maintain a comprehensive accounting procedures manual to mitigate organizational risk.
• Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Analyze financial data, identify trends, and make recommendations to support business goals.
• Ensure full compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain effective internal controls to protect company assets.
• Provide leadership during audits and manage auditor inquiries.
• Mentor and evaluate accounting team members, encouraging ongoing professional development.
• Contribute to system upgrades, implementations, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Coordinate with cross-functional departments to gather and validate financial data.
• Oversee cash reporting, daily deposits, and general ledger accuracy.
• Manage journal entries, sales tax reporting, and fixed asset tracking.
• Ensure timely reconciliations and effective document archiving and retrieval.

Job RequirementsQualifications of the Accounting Supervisor:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a professional accounting role.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop team members through coaching and communication.
• Proficient knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting operations.
• Strong analytical skills and experience identifying and correcting data discrepancies.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with accuracy.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Integrity, discretion, and a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with credit analysis or payroll/tax compliance.
• Background in supporting insurance renewals and state license filings.
• Familiarity with fixed asset and depreciation schedules, bank reconciliations, and sales tax reporting.
