We are seeking an Accounting Leader to join our client’s dynamic team and play a key role in driving accurate and timely financial reporting. This is an exciting hybrid opportunity to lead a talented team and contribute to the success of a growing organization located near Schenectady, NY.Responsibilities of the Accounting Leader will include:
- Lead and manage the Statutory Accounting team, providing guidance and support to team members.
- Oversee the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements and reports in compliance with statutory requirements.
- Manage the preparation and review of annual Medical Loss Ratio filings throughout the year.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights to senior management.
- Coordinate with external auditors during audits and address any findings.
- Stay current with changes in accounting standards and regulations, ensuring proper implementation.
- Oversee and review the preparation of monthly journal entries and reporting functions during the monthly close process.
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage and reconcile State Premium Stop-Loss recovery billing.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
Job RequirementsQualifications of the Accounting Leader:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
- Proven experience in statutory accounting, financial reporting, and compliance preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
- Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office applications.
- Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role is desirable.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong technical skills with a focus on current accounting practices.
