We are seeking an Accounting Leader to join our client’s dynamic team and play a key role in driving accurate and timely financial reporting. This is an exciting hybrid opportunity to lead a talented team and contribute to the success of a growing organization located near Schenectady, NY.Responsibilities of the Accounting Leader will include:

• Lead and manage the Statutory Accounting team, providing guidance and support to team members.
• Oversee the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements and reports in compliance with statutory requirements.
• Manage the preparation and review of annual Medical Loss Ratio filings throughout the year.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights to senior management.
• Coordinate with external auditors during audits and address any findings.
• Stay current with changes in accounting standards and regulations, ensuring proper implementation.
• Oversee and review the preparation of monthly journal entries and reporting functions during the monthly close process.
• Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Manage and reconcile State Premium Stop-Loss recovery billing.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Job RequirementsQualifications of the Accounting Leader:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
• Proven experience in statutory accounting, financial reporting, and compliance preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
• Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office applications.
• Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role is desirable.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong technical skills with a focus on current accounting practices.
