Academic Reading to Write:
This course focuses on helping students develop academic reading and writing skills. It exposes students to a broad range of extended authentic written passages with an emphasis on critical reading and reading strategies. In writing, importance is placed on organization and synthesis of information from different sources and expansion of formal writing skills to include expository essays in various organizational patterns, summaries of academic texts, and acquisition of academic grammar and vocabulary. Emphasis is also placed on helping students develop academic readiness for undergraduate programs at the University of Ottawa.

Master’s degree in second language teaching, TESL or related discipline. Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college/university level. Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course. Experience with team-teaching. TESL Certification or equivalent.
Please note: This course is offered exclusively on the University of Ottawa campus and requires in-person instruction.
