- Safekey/RAP Site Assistant – $14/per hour
- Safekey/RAP Site Leader – $16/per hour
- Safekey/RAP Site and Behavior Trainer – $25/per hour
The Safekey and ReInvent (RAP) Before- and- After-School enrichment programs are offered at 70 elementary schools within the city of Las Vegas. These programs provide a safe environment where children in kindergarten-5th grade engage in fun enrichment and recreational activities, have a nutritious snack, and have time to work on their homework under the supervision of caring adult role models.There are 5 different Safekey organizations in the valley. We, the city of Las Vegas Safekey/RAP program, operate in 70 elementary school locations in the areas highlighted in BLUE (service boundaries are approximated) on the map below.If you are unable to travel to the locations in BLUE, we invite you to contact the Safekey organization that oversees the area/s that you prefer.

The department will evaluate your experience, skills, and abilities listed on your application and/or resume as it relates to the essential functions of your desired position.Once hired, what are the working hours?Work hours, shift and location are not guaranteed and subject to be changed at any time based on program and facility needs. Safekey/RAP team members work at elementary school sites before and/or after school, which may require staff to work a split shift. You will be working an hourly position scheduled on average 19-25 hours per week during the school year.Shifts typically occur:1) Mornings: 1-2 hours between 6:45-8:00 a.m. or 7:00-9:00 a.m. (M-F) and/or2) Afternoons: 2.5-4 hours between 2:00-6:00 p.m. or 3:00-6:00 p.m. (M-F)Hourly Safekey/RAP employees are also limited to 1,019 hours of work from July 2025 to June 2026.Employment is seasonal and the Clark County School District calendar is used as a guide for staff scheduling. How soon can I start working?
Safekey/RAP seasonal positions start Monday, August 11, 2025. There are required in-service orientation trainings on Friday, August 1st and Saturday, August 2nd. Additional trainings will be required. Your individual employment start date will be contingent upon successful clearance of a preliminary background check and drug screening.Supervision Received
Receives general supervision from higher level supervisory or management staff.EXAMPLE OF DUTIESDuties include but are not limited to:Safekey/RAP Site Assistant:
The duties of a site assistant include but are not limited to:Performs routine work executing the daily operations of the Safekey/RAP program; ensures the safety of participants is maintained through direct, adequate and consistent supervision at all times (by sight and hearing) and active engagement throughout the program; models enthusiasm, innovation, motivation, initiative and involvement; plans and facilitates structured program activities on a daily basis–programming and curriculum must be age-appropriate and include physical activities (indoor and outdoor), literacy, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics), arts and crafts, holiday-themed activities, homework time, etc.; leads group games and is active for 30 minutes or more at a time, both indoors and outdoors; assists with site opening and closing procedures including cleaning/disinfecting, organizing and set-up/take down of program area, equipment and supplies; ensures all program equipment and supplies are in a safe, operational, and presentable condition; assists as needed with the completion of program components and paperwork/documentation such as snack distribution/sheets, fire drills, citizen incident reports, inappropriate behavior tracking reports, attendance, as well as electronic-related tasks such as participant sign-in/out; assists in enforcing site safety, the sign-in and sign-out procedures and greets all persons that enter the program room; reports all incidents, safety concerns, facility issues, etc. to the site leader or other supervisory staff; provides assistance to full-time or part-time classified staff or designee, and other duties as assigned.Safekey/RAP Site Leader:
Site Leader duties encompass that of a Site Assistant and in addition include but are not limited to:Provides oversight and supervision of the program participants and site assistants; ensures the planning, programming and execution of the daily operations, schedule and program curriculum are being implemented; ensures programs and activities are structured to best meet program needs; monitors site inventory and submits supply and equipment requests (this includes requests for replacement of damaged, unsafe or lost equipment); conducts fire drills, provides reports, and ensures participant records are organized and maintained; assists with parent behavior meetings, and gives input on behavior plans as needed; main on-site point-of-contact for parents and CCSD staff regarding site concerns, participant behavior, incidents, etc.; communicates with full-time or part-time classified staff with regard to assigned site, parents/guardians, program activities and updates; submits requests for special events, site signage and parent communication to the supervisor for preapproval; provides hands-on training for and monitors work performance of assigned site assistants and reports performance to assigned supervisor; performs other duties as assigned.
Site and Behavior Trainer:
This position provides specialized support for staff and program sites in the management of student behaviors, curriculum implementation, group management, and overall site organization. It involves a combination of administrative and field work and requires travel to multiple program sites. The desired candidate will have a certification or degree related to working with children under unique circumstances or similar work experience and must be proficient in the duties of that of a Site Leader and Site Assistant.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSSafekey/RAP Site Assistant & Site Leader:
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Infant, Child and Adult CPR/AED and First Aid certification at time of start/reclassification.
- Need to maintain the physical agility necessary to demonstrate and maintain sports, and other recreation games and activities, move and maintain equipment, and other physical activities as needed to provide the safety, welfare and security necessary.
- Formal and informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
- Experience using technology such as iPad, printer, cell phone, and internet based applications.
- Need to maintain all department required trainings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in a group setting.
- Bilingual skills are desirable.
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) Credential is preferred
