We’re seeking an Environmental Planner to join our growing Natural Resources & Environmental Planning team. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional who is passionate about climate resilience, environmental planning, GIS, and community engagement. You’ll collaborate with planners, scientists, engineers, and landscape architects on projects that help municipalities and communities prepare for environmental challenges while enhancing the places people live, work, and play.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and facilitating community engagement initiatives, including public workshops, charrettes, resilience planning sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
- Perform environmental, spatial, and geospatial analyses using ArcGIS Pro and develop high-quality mapping deliverables.
- Support environmental assessments, data collection efforts, and analytical methodologies for planning projects.
- Contribute to the planning and conceptual design of climate resilience and nature-based solutions, including green infrastructure and climate adaptation strategies.
- Prepare technical reports, planning documents, grant applications, presentations, and outreach materials for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, planners, and landscape architects to develop innovative, community-focused solutions.
- Assist with project coordination, research, data analysis, and client deliverables while meeting project schedules and quality expectations.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, Environmental Science, or a closely related field (master’s degree is a plus).
- Typically requires 0-3 years of professional experience, preferably in environmental planning, climate resilience, sustainability, or related consulting work. Internship experience will be considered.
- Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and public audiences.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced consulting environment.
- Experience supporting climate adaptation or resilience planning initiatives.
- Experience working with municipal clients or public agencies.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Progress toward obtaining AICP certification is a plus.
