What to Expect

Tesla is seeking an ambitious EHS Engineer to support our Energy and Charging Design and Engineering organizations. In this role, you willidentifyand assess environmental, health, and safety risks across Energy and Charging products – and champion the design changes thateliminatethem. You will serve as the dedicated EHS point of contact for the product teams you support, owning risk identification, stakeholder engagement, and the delivery of EHS outcomes from concept, launch,install,serviceand end of life.

Applying firstprinciplesthinking and Human and Organizational Performance (HOP), you will build genuine safety ownership within the teams and individuals you partner with. Working alongside the Energy Tooling Team, Service Engineering, and cross-functional design and engineering stakeholders, you will drive innovative, practical EHS solutions from idea to implementation.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with Energy & Charging Operations, Service Engineering, and EHS to evaluate changes to product design, site design, and work scope
  • Translateincident trends, field observations, and best practices into design mitigations that reduce risk to health, safety, and the environment
  • Perform system and component-level risk assessments on product designs, R&D prototypes, and test configurations, including owning EHS inputs to design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA)
  • Evaluate service tooling designs for safety and hazardous energy risk prior to field testing
  • Serve as EHS subject matter expert in the change control board (CCB) process for Energy & Charging products
  • Collaborate with other EHS disciplines (ergonomics, process safety, EHS training, EHS systems) to ensure effective handoff of design impacts, service tooling updates, and product knowledge

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience as an EHS professional or engineer, preferably in renewable energy, manufacturing, construction, or R&Denvironment
  • Proficiencyin electrical safety/engineering, control of hazardous energy, and mechanical safety;aswell asawareness of industrial ergonomics, environmental compliance, and industrial hygiene
  • Working knowledge of battery/energy storage system hazards (e.g., thermal runaway, high-voltage DC architecture, electrolyte handling) and electrical infrastructure
  • Experience with hazard analysis methods, OSHA compliance, incident investigation and root cause analysis, and corrective action management
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-functional partnership skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of AI tools; basic familiarity with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks)

    Expected Compensation
    $80,000 – $150,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
