We are seeking a Wastewater Treatment Project Manager who is passionate about delivering high-quality wastewater solutions and leading projects that make a measurable difference. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage with clients and regulators, and guide projects from early evaluation and pilot testing through design, construction, and commissioning – helping shape the future of wastewater infrastructure across the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of wastewater treatment projects, including new facilities, expansions, and upgrades
- Lead process evaluation and design for primary, secondary, and tertiary systems, including biological nutrient removal (BNR)
- Evaluate and optimize treatment processes such as activated sludge, MBR, SBR, trickling filters, and advanced systems
- Oversee process modeling, mass balance analyses, and capacity evaluations
- Develop solutions for biosolids treatment, including digestion and dewatering
- Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and deliverables
- Prepare and present technical reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Support permitting and regulatory compliance
- Provide construction-phase services, including submittal review, RFIs, field inspections, and startup/commissioning
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development efforts
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 8+ years of experience in wastewater treatment design and process engineering
- Strong expertise in municipal wastewater treatment and nutrient removal
- Proven experience managing projects, delivering on time and within budget
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD required
- Experience with process modeling tools such as BioWin or GPS-X a plus
- Experience with funding programs (SRF, USDA Rural Development) a plus
- Ability to travel approximately 5-10% throughout New England
