Description

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results driven and forward-thinking Field Safety Specialist to join our amazing culture. In this role, you are responsible for administering the local safety program to maintain colleague safety and adherence to Convergint’s World Class Safety standards, as well as all relevant federal, state, and local Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations. What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your experience

  • Conduct Field Safety Audits and Inspections: Regularly perform safety audits and inspections to identify and address immediate and potential hazards. Conducts safety audits for high-risk customers as required.
  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment: Use iSafe data and field observations to proactively identify risks and assess hazards to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for all colleagues.
  • Safety Training and Awareness: Administers local safety training program, including new hire orientation, annual training, and customer specific training. Responsible for both conducting training (MEWP, LOTO, Etc.) and ensuring online training is completed. Track and manage safety certifications as needed.
  • Incident Investigation and Documentation: Leads incident investigation for all incidents or accidents and plays a key role in understanding their causes and developing corrective action to prevent future occurrences. Partners with National Safety Manager in all investigations.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyzes safety data and reports findings to local leadership team and National Safety Manager.
  • PPE Management: Assists with the identification and procurement of relevant safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Injury Management: Supports Injury Management Plans to reduce severity of workers compensation claims.
  • Safety Committee: Chairs local safety committee and develops annual goals with local leadership team. Serves as the safety SME for colleague questions. Develop safety plans for special events such as Convergint Day.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Leads emergency response plan and conducts regular drills to ensure preparedness for unexpected events.
  • Assists Sales in completing Pre-Qualification questionnaires, RFPs, and bid documents. Serve as liaison to customer/GC/EC on all safety issues and demonstrate the value of the Convergint Safety Program.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

What You’ll Need

  • Proficiency in Federal, State, and Local EHS regulations and standards.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and manage workplace hazards and risks effectively.
  • Competence in conducting safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify potential hazards.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective corrective actions and solutions for identified safety issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively conveying safety protocols and findings to employees and management.
  • Strong ability to analyze safety data, interpret trends, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging and informative safety training sessions to a diverse workforce.
  • Proficiency in investigating accidents or incidents, documenting findings, and formulating preventive strategies.
  • Capability to develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct drills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with various departments and teams.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities efficiently.
  • Familiarity with safety management software and basic computer applications like MS Office for reporting and documentation.
  • Ability to lead by example in safety practices and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest safety practices, regulations, and innovations in the field.

Requirements:

education: College degree, trade school or equivalent experience

Minimum Experience: 3+ years in safety-related role within similar industry

  • Certifications & Licenses: OSHA 30 Certification required; Current First Aid and CPR certifications required.

Preferred Experience: (but not required):

  • Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation
  • Certifications & Licenses: OSHA Outreach Instructor desired; Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or Safety Management Specialist (SMS) are desired.
