We are looking to hire a Cultural Resources Technical Advisor to support our cultural resources practice in the New Mexico/Four Corners region. Our New Mexico – Four Corners office offers a unique work environment and specializes in multi-disciplinary projects across a range of industries and geographies. Your role will be to lead field efforts and manage agency deliverables.
This will be an On-Demand/On-Call position paying hourly rates. The position can be based in the Albuquerque, NM area or remote (= Distributed) in the Mountain or Pacific Time Zone.

What you will accomplish
Oversee all aspects of field research, data collection, inventory, analysis, and final report production insuring it is conducted to the specific state and federal requirements. As needed, author large technical reports, research designs, treatment plans and other technical documents. Maintain good working relationships with state and federal agency contacts and clients following relevant work protocols. Provide leadership and mentorship for other cultural resource staff.
experience and qualifications for success
- Master’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology required
- Minimum of ten (10) years of cultural resources supervisory and fieldwork experience required; minimum of fifteen (15) years preferred
- Ability to design and implement a testing or data recovery excavation project consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for Archeology and Historic Preservation.
- Experience in New Mexico archaeology required
- Technical specialization (i.e. lithic analysis, faunal analysis, historical archaeology, architectural history, etc.) preferred
- Experience with Section 106 required
- Past peer-reviewed publication record and conference presentation experience preferred
- Qualified to be listed on the New Mexico State and New Mexico BLM Permit for Archaeological Investigations
- Ability to be listed on various federal and state cultural resource permits in other states desired

A Staff Biologist in this Albuquerque, NM-based position can expect an hourly rate of $37.34 to $63.35. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law.
