Environmental Technician

Are you mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and passionate about environmental stewardship? Waste Connections is hiring ahands-on Environmental Technicianto support landfill gas systems, leachate collection, and compliance operations across two key sites.

What You’ll Do

• Monitor and tune landfill gas well fields

• Perform general well field maintenance (extend wells, pull pumps, run new lines)

• Assist with leachate collection system operations

• Conduct routine inspections and take well field readings

• Support compliance tasks including monthly reports, site observations, and inspections

• Collaborate with gas plant technicians and landfill operators on daily operations

• Identify and mitigate environmental hazards (e.g., leachate seeps)

• Lead or assist in repairs to reduce environmental risks

• Track and support contractor work and post-audit corrections

• Interpret and work from technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams

• Assist with ordering parts and understanding budgeting processes

What We’re Looking For

• Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related fieldpreferred

• Mechanical or technical backgrounda plus

• Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and schematics

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

• experience with compliance systems (e.g., iAuditor)preferred

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

• Leadership mindset with the ability to direct field repairs and contractors
