Salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with https://www.ualberta.ca/en/human-resources-health-safety-environment/media-library/my-employment/agreements/schedule-d-academic-teaching-staff-2020-2024.pdf of the Collective Agreement between the Board of Governors of the University of Alberta and the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta.

Location – This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

The https://www.ualberta.ca/en/accounting-business-analytics/index.html in the Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta, is accepting applications for a full-time Academic Teaching Staff position for a 3-year fixed term appointment beginning July 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Teach business analytics courses (8 sections) to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Contribute meaningfully to the Master of Management Analytics (MMA) program through teaching, curriculum enhancement, and student supervision.
• Participate in MMA program service activities, including admissions, curriculum review, and program development.
• Stay current with developments in AI and analytics, including emerging tools and methods, and incorporate relevant innovations into teaching and program activities.
• Prepare course syllabi, course materials, midterm exams, final exams and assign grades.
• Evaluate student performance progress and provide appropriate and timely feedback according to department protocols.
• Help recruit project sponsors, supervise student capstone teams, and provide students with hands-on experience working with real software products.
• Remain abreast with relevant literature in business analytics as it applies to their teaching resources and activities.
• Provide help sessions to undergraduate and graduate students on business analytics fundamentals.
• Participate in department activities including advising student clubs and coaching students for case competitions.

Qualifications

• A PhD in a discipline relevant to business analytics (e.g., operations research, operations management, industrial engineering, or computer science), completed or expected to be completed by the time of appointment.
• Strong academic preparation and relevant industry experience in Business Analytics, AI, and Data Analytics.
• Evidence of effective communication, leadership, and the ability to engage diverse audiences in both academic and applied settings.
• Proven ability or clear potential to build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, especially in sectors where analytics and AI play a significant role.
• Strong expertise in business analytics tools such as Python, R, SQL, Power BI, and Tableau is essential.
• Experience teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Facilitation, negotiation and problem solving skills and an ability to handle challenging student situations.
• A record of publication in Business Analytics and an interest in Teaching and Learning research will be considered an asset.
