Overview
The Sr. Specialist will access, develop and maintain EH&S databases, analytics, and visualizations. They will have and apply broad EH&S subject matter knowledge and experience to analyze and transform the data they work with into policies, procedures, and projects. Lastly, the Sr. Specialist will manage and lead SMEs, stakeholders, and vendors in EH&S’s technical specification drafting, integrations, testing, and production deployment of applications.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Analyze EH&S data to identify trends, metrics and opportunities for improvement.
- Create static and active data visualizations for customers routine and ad-hoc queries.
- Develop AI based solutions to address customers EH&S queries.
- Coordinate efforts across team members to facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders, promoting transparency in project progress and proactively identifying and addressing potential obstacles.
- Support the design, planning, implementation, maintenance, and support of cloud-based EH&S solutions aligned with corporate standards and governance frameworks such as Software as a Service (SaaS).
- Participate, lead and engage in workshops, contributing insights and expertise to shape proper data entry, analysis, and representation.
- Develop and manage comprehensive documentation related to mapping processes, business rules, and workflow optimization, data model and configuration and data migration.
- Provide analytical support for the identification and development of risk management strategies.
- Support department goals by promoting a customer-first culture built on trust, fostering inclusive planning, and engaging stakeholders through active listening.
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required while continuing to work under the guidance of a 3L/H Manager.
Qualifications
Required education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of relevant work experience or
- Master’s Degree and 2years of relevant work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Science or Engineering and 3 years of relevant work experience Database management, coding, analytics, and project management applied to environmental health and safety data or
- Master’s Degree in Business, Science or Engineering and 2 years of relevant work experience Database management, coding, analytics, and project management applied to environmental health and safety data
Relevant Work Experience
- Coding in SQL Studio, Python, and Java, required.
- Application of Microsoft BI or Tableau to web based user interfaces, required.
- Environmental, Health and Safety corporate operations line support or data analysis, required.
- Must be highly motivated and committed to delivering excellence in the area of EH&S and must recognize the critical importance of teamwork, required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, required.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), required.
- Flexible in handling multiple work assignments, changing priorities, and meeting deadlines, required.
- Strong knowledge of NY State Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, required.
Licenses and Certifications
- Driver’s License Required
Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
