Job description

The role is responsible for fulfilling licensing acquisitions and renewals for all of the video content in our Sage Video and Sage Research Methods streaming video collections sold to the worldwide library market. This person will also work in a strategic and Editorial capacity with other Video team members to identify suitable content for licensing to help fulfill the goals of these collections.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop content licensing plans for video products in partnership with Editorial colleagues, using finalized taxonomies and content partner leads generated by subject editors; as well as proactively seeking additional licensing opportunities for video products with an understanding of the key needs of each of them (working closely with subject editors); working with other content partners to assist in video licensing where required (e.g. mixed media products)
  • Execute these video licensing plans and all other licensing needs for these library products through successful negotiation and closure of contracts with licensing partners meeting the business needs of Sage, keeping to budget and within agreed milestones.
  • Lead on implementing plans, strategy and communication for all video licensing renewals on Sage products, keeping to budget and milestones
  • Draft and regularly review Sage Video licensing agreements with necessary internal

stakeholders to ensure agreement terms meet Sage Video business needs; contribute to
broader strategic conversations with other stakeholders in the business regarding new
business models and their impact on video licensing

  • Manage delivery of and ingestion of licensed video content (including associated metadata), working with licensing partners, Editorial and Video Production colleagues as necessary according to agreed internal dates and content milestones
  • Taking responsibility for the rights management of licensed video content and metadata as it fits with Sage collections which is included in internal systems and processes
  • Represent Video Editorial at key video team meetings; develop and foster strong internal relationships with other departmental colleagues as needed
  • Working with Video Production, taking responsibility for overseeing licensing payments, and tracking costs/use of licensed video within Sage products
  • Work with UK Finance to oversee the Video partner royalty process and ensure the accuracy of video royalty statements to our content partners as needed
  • Lead on managing our partner relationships as well as researching opportunities for new video licensing, by attending conferences, participating in market research, analyzing usage data.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in content licensing in an academic/higher education publishing

company, video distributor, or video publishing company, or be able to demonstrate
equivalent competence

  • Proven Editorial or rights management experience with streaming video or academic

multimedia products or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence
in further education in either licensing, contracts or negotiations, even film distribution,

  • Strong and proven Editorial skills, especially in handling contracts and negotiations, and

understanding of rights management

  • Ability to prioritize and focus to drive successful delivery of content
  • Ability to work globally, building relationships with individuals in other offices
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills and efficient execution of tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be comfortable working in a remotely managed position
  • Proficient use of the MS Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); and able to learn several internal IT systems.
