Team Lead, National Risk Assessment (Environment TPO)
The successful candidate for this National Risk Assessment Team Lead role will be responsible for managing a team of 10 staff comprising technical and professional staff at all levels of development. They will support management in promoting collaboration within the Environment Practice and with other Technical Practices to ensure effective resource sharing and workload/resource balancing. They will provide operational leadership to the Environment Practice by allocating risk assessors and toxicologists to projects, managing or acting in a senior technical direction role on risk assessment projects, and supporting the technical development of staff to support project execution.

The successful candidate will bring well developed leadership skills to provide senior level technical direction and mentoring of staff, strong client management skills and the ability to collaborate with other Team Leads to contribute to management initiatives.

Your role within the team:
Specific duties related to this position vary depending on level of experience, but are generally as follows:
- Supervising and mentoring a team of environmental professionals and technical staff across multiple regions.
- Understanding client objectives, technical protocols, guidelines and regulations that apply to the work/projects conducted and the rationale/developmental framework behind them.
- Acting as a direct interface between clients and the AtkinsRéalis project team and/or regulatory bodies, as appropriate.
- Project management (including technical program development, management of personnel and resources, oversight of budgets and schedules for deliverables, implementing quality assurance reviews, and ensuring client objectives are met).
- Growing the group revenue from existing client relationships, developing new business and/or expanding lines of business.
- Identifying project quality/project profitability risks and liabilities and developing strategies to minimize them.
- Ensuring proper implementation and continued use of quality assurance programs and corporate policies and procedures, including Ethics and Compliance.
- Embracing behaviour-based safety and ensuring all health and safety protocols are followed.
- Other duties as assigned/required.

The ideal candidate:
- University Degree, Masters or PHD is required.
- 15 years’ experience with 5 of those years mentoring and/or managing staff.
- Field of study Biology, Chemistry, Toxicology or related discipline.
- 15 years of experience in the field of risk assessment.
- Qualified Professional Risk Assessor in Ontario or experience and professional designation in other provinces would be considered.
- Experience in mentoring and/or managing staff.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and mentor technical and professional staff at different levels of career development.
- Solid knowledge of provincial and federal risk assessment guidance and regulatory requirements across Canada.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to manage time and multiple deliverables accordingly.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proven technical writing skills.
- Commitment to excellence with a focus on quality control, quality management and attention to detail.
- English proficiency in reading and writing, with bilingualism in French an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Compensation:
Expected compensation range for this role is between $100,000 – $140,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, location, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
