Title: PRO – P1116 – Air Data SpecialistState Role Title: Environmental Specialist IHiring Range: $42,905 – $55,000Pay Band: 4Agency: Dept of Environmental QualityLocation: Piedmont Regional OfficeAgency Website: http://deq.virginia.govRecruitment Type: Agency Employee Only – AJob DutiesThe Virginia Department of Environmental Quality is seeking a qualified candidate to collect, enter, evaluate, and perform quality control checks of air emissions, permitting, and compliance data which is collected, maintained, and retrieved in support of the DEQ mission. Provide administrative and computer software support in the management of database and document management systems. Provide multimedia coordination of document management, document handling, and file organization while scanning or entering files into DEQ’s Enterprise Content Management system. Provide technical and organizational support to the regional permitting and compliance managers and staff. Provide information and customer service to DEQ staff, customers and the general public concerning regional air emissions, permitting, and compliance data. Assist with administrative assignments, including FOIA requests, and provide quality assurance for outgoing reports and correspondence.Minimum QualificationsComputer operation skills to include extensive data entry and data manipulation skills, with a working knowledge of database, document management and scanning software, as well as a comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office; knowledge of automated office equipment, digital scanning equipment, document management systems, and file management procedures; skills in organizing large filing systems and knowledge of records retention practices; ability to work as a member of a team; customer service and technical support skills; organizational and project management skills, including ability to prepare mass mailings for timely distribution; basic math skills; strong interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Additional ConsiderationsCombination of education or training with major coursework in computer operations, database management, environmental science, or physical science, with additional experience in clerical office practices, practical computer hardware/software use, and dealing with the public.Must be able to lift boxes weighing as much as 50 pounds.Special InstructionsYou will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or résumé is submitted successfully.
