OverviewWe’re an international insurance and risk management firm, and we’re looking for an experienced and inspiring Marine Cargo Technical Account Handler to join us within our Cargo Team.This role will require the applicant to understand the technical elements of Cargo insurance, from first contact to placement, the individual hired will be expected to manage what clients, broker and underwriters need to place a wide variety of USA, International and wholesale accounts.Joining as a member of our technical broking unit, you will work in tandem with our producers/brokers to achieve the goals of our clients.
How you’ll make an impact

  • To engage directly with clients (Direct, Wholesale and Facultative Reinsurance ) in respect of their (Re) insurance requirements and work alongside the producer/broker to translate this into an effective market presentation.
  • If required to attend client strategy/renewal meetings and any service meetings.
  • Ensure all documentation provided is in line with market requirements, AJG Policies and Procedures.
  • Manage client queries and liaise with insurers as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to co-ordinate, prepare and provide information for any RFP/Tender submissions.
  • Manage own workload in order to effectively service the clients relationship and complete placements within given deadlines.
  • Work with the team to support our financial and processing functions in dealing with all aspects of financial discipline, accounts queries and credit control.
  • Support the Leadership Team and colleagues in developing, growing and delivering operational plans and revenue targets.
  • Look for internal business improvement opportunities to support optimum efficiency.

About You

  • Excellent customer service focus, keeping our clients at the center of your actions.
  • Experience in the London and/or overseas insurance Markets in Cargo, Cargo Stock-throughput and Freight Logistics.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in the use of Microsoft office (i.e. word, excel, powerpoint, etc.), industry specific systems, such as PPL, Crystal and transactional broking platforms.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills
  • Good working knowledge of Market Reform Contracts for Insurance and Reinsurance contracts
  • Attention to detail
  • Have a demonstrable track record of strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication (written, oral & presentation) skills & interpersonal skills essential
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment where lateral thinking, initiative, self-motivation and decision-making skills are crucial
  • Skilled at building effective relationships, at all levels, with clients, prospects, associates, insurers and external specialists
  • The ability to solve complex problems in a highly pressurised environment, whilst managing your own workload.
