The Assistant Regional Director supervises 4-6 assigned DVS Offices and 8-16 personnel under the oversight of the Regional Director. Ensures that quality veteran claims and other support services are provided by their employees in a timely and professional manner. Trains the Veteran Service Representatives and Administrative Personnel under their supervision to provide claims and other veteran specific support and reviews and assesses their work. Fosters the education of veterans and dependents on the services and benefits offered by Virginia and the federal government. Conduct outreach to promote
VDVS and the programs offered.Minimum QualificationsAbility to motivate, train, supervise, hold accountable to established standards, and lead
subordinates;

  • Extensive knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to veterans’ benefits and experience filing for

such benefits is required;

  • Experience with the military and / or military veteran communities;
  • Ability to interpret complex laws and regulations and apply to casework;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Public speaking and instructional skills.
  • Extensive travel during duty hours and occasional overnight travel at government expense is required.
