Description:

In this fourth architectural design studio in the Master of Architecture studio sequence, students will be guided through the challenges of integrating structural and environmental systems, while responding to site conditions and addressing a program of moderate complexity. This studio is meant to provide students with an opportunity to integrate the variety of systems (technical and otherwise) necessary to architecture.

Class Schedule:

Monday 9:00-13:00

Monday 14:00-18:00

Thursday 14:00-18:00

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2025

Estimate of the course enrolment: Approximately 12 students per section

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I – $18,915.79; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $19,861.58; Sessional Lecturer II – $20,243.53; Sessional Lecturer II Long Term – $20,653.23; Sessional Lecturer III – $20,725.52; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term – $21,140.03 (inclusive of vacation pay)

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum Qualifications: M.Arch degree or other Graduate degree in Architecture preferred. We are seeking applicants with a proven record of teaching foundation design studios at the M. Arch and/or B.A/B.Arch level.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of contemporary architectural pedagogy and the current state of the discipline, at both practical and theoretical levels, is highly desirable.

Description of Duties: Attending meetings required by studio coordinator; preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, supervision of teaching assistants; preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations, and deferred final examinations; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions, and student contact hours.
