Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
The Installation Environmental Technician will work on-site at NSF Redzikowo, Poland, supporting the Installation Environmental Program Director (IEPD) under the Public Works Department. This role ensures the installation’s compliance with environmental standards, regulations, and management practices, including US Department of Defense (DoD) and Polish environmental laws. The position demands a proactive approach in monitoring, managing, and maintaining environmental engineering programs, audits, and regulatory compliance.
Our salary for this position, based on the market data, is 6,200 PLN to 8,300 PLN.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Environmental Compliance & Program Monitoring
o Support environmental compliance, ensuring adherence to the Environmental Final Governing Standards for Poland (FGS-PL) and DoD Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance (OEBGD).
o Oversee and update environmental management programs, reviewing installation compliance plans and environmental standards.
· Inspection & Reporting
o Conduct environmental inspections and audits, including drinking water, wastewater, and air emissions. Provide analytical insights and recommendations based on findings.
o Maintain records and submit periodic reports, including any findings and corrective actions, ensuring timely documentation on EMSWeb and G2 platforms.
· Technical Guidance & Recommendations
o Provide technical evaluations for environmental engineering processes, making improvement recommendations aligned with engineering standards and regulations.
o Act as a liaison between contractors, military personnel, and the IEPD to facilitate compliance.
· Specialized Compliance Areas
o Provide recommendations and compliance support across various areas such as air emissions, drinking water, hazardous material and waste management, solid and medical waste, petroleum management, and endangered species protection.
o Ensure adherence to environmental compliance in specialized categories such as asbestos, lead-based paint, and spill prevention.
· Training & Documentation
o Conduct or assist with briefings, training programs, and report preparations.
o Maintain organized documentation on environmental compliance, coordinating with the IEPD for continuous program improvement.
· Emergency & Off-Hours Response
o Be prepared for emergency response to environmental issues, adjusting work hours if necessary to accommodate emergency requirements.
General Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or engineering, or a related field.

Alternatively, a degree in a non-environmental field with 3 years of relevant experience.

Comprehensive knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, including Polish environmental standards.

Familiarity with environmental management systems, compliance audits, and engineering principles for managing environmental programs.

Strong communication skills in both Polish and English for effective reporting, training, and coordination.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro

Ability to pass a security background check.

Capability to conduct technical evaluations and submit detailed documentation.
Working Conditions:
The role is primarily on-site at NSF Redzikowo, Poland. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm, with adjustments for US holidays. Emergency situations may require immediate, off-hours response as directed.
Contract Terms:
The base contract period is one year, with the potential for four additional one-year options. Candidates must be prepared to start within 30 days of contract award and provide proof of Defense Base Act (DBA) Insurance if required.
