Job description
As a Finance Manager, you’ll work closely with finance leaders to support all accounting functions while managing the finance team and working on system transformation projects.
- Overview and manage budgets forecasts, adjustments, cost accruals and revenue recognition per project/job
- Prepare, review and present variance analysis on an ad-hoc basis
- Coordinate billings via unit rate payment applications, milestone billings and/or force account submissions
- Support OC Manager, Project Manager, and Controller
- Assist in collection of A/R while managing the Payroll data captures and customer billing processes
- Manage the DSO for the area to keep with in targets
- Assist with bids, margins, RFI, RFP, setting bill rates as required and AFE for Capital Purchases
- Manage monthly detailed performance reviews to set critical financial focus for the current month, month end activities within the area to ensure accurate and timely cutoff and statements
- Management of the Finance team for the division including hiring, disciplining, and terminating
- Direct Supervision of a team of Project Accountants, Job Cost Administrators, AR Administrators
- Prepare executive reports, operating centres P&L, and Income Statements for all business lines in the area on a monthly basis
- Providing cost analysis and reports to measure actual to planned job progress for forecasting
- Ensure regulatory compliance is met by supervising accounting systems to ensure compliance with existing regulations and legislation
- Manage relationships and negotiations with financial institutions.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, Provincial, and local laws, including in Occupational Health & Safety and Construction Safety Act regulations

- CPA Designation is Preferred
- Experience in the Consutrction Industry
- Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years’ of experience within the finance and accounting department
- 5+ years managing a team within finance and accounting
- Advanced Excels skills
- Superior organizational and communication skills
- Ability to deal with change in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and product-line profitability analysis.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Multi-tasking, adaptability, and adherence to deadlines
- Excellent analysis and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency with computerized accounting software programs, preferably Sage 300 (Accpac) or CMiC
- Supervisory experience including the training and mentoring of others
- Conflict management and negotiations
- Spanish communication skills (an asset/preferred)
