It is a highly respected program within the business, financial and academic communities. Rotman Commerce serves approximately 3,400 in-program undergraduate business students as well as over 18,000 graduates of the Bachelor of Commerce program. Rotman Commerce offers its students a rich and rigorous academic program alongside ample opportunities to develop themselves personally and professionally.Under the general direction of the Managing Director, the Director, Career Services is a key member of the program’s senior management team contributing significantly to the establishment of Rotman Commerce’s strategic priorities and playing a key role in helping the program to realize its mission and vision. The Director develops strategies, programming, and services to ensure that Rotman Commerce is recognized as a top-level business program for talent and recruitment purposes and that it is recognized locally, domestically and internationally as a leader in student development, career education, and employer relations.The Director is responsible for new business development, employer relations, student programming and career education, and related marketing and communications. The Director manages all functions related to human resource management including organizational structure, assignment of work, as well as hiring, performance management and professional development of all career services staff. In addition, duties include budget management and development of operational plans as well as policy, procedure and program development.Essential Qualifications:I. EDUCATION:University degree, preferably an MBA degree or other graduate degree in a related field of study (e.g., human resources, employment relations, higher education).II. EXPERIENCE:Eight to ten years relevant work experience in senior level recruitment and career services management. Relevant experience includes: senior corporate recruitment, career services and consulting, executive search and career outplacement. Demonstrated skills and experience developing, managing and leading a team, preferably in a unionized environment. Knowledge of undergraduate business education and the Canadian business school environment required. Knowledge of student development theory is an asset.III. SKILLS:Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with a strong emphasis on influencing skills; outstanding organizational ability, thorough knowledge and understanding of training and development skills, curricula/program design and delivery, presentation skills and an ability to relate well to the highly diverse and demanding communities of students and corporate partners. Outstanding customer service focus is essential. A deep understanding and pragmatic approach to career development and coaching coupled with an understanding and appreciation for corporate needs. Ability to work independently, set priorities and work schedules to meet deadlines; demonstrated decision-making skills in a fast-paced, demanding, dynamic environment. Tact, discretion, sensitivity to confidential matters. Able to work effectively with a wide variety of people at different levels of the University and with external stakeholders. Strong computer skills; good knowledge of MS Office and an understanding of how to use databases effectively. Knowledge of/certification in a variety of career assessment tools. Proven success in leading a large team of professionals in a demanding environment.IV.
