Roles and ResponsibilitiesSafety Program Development: Assist in creating and implementing safety policies and procedures in alignment with provincial and federal regulations.Training Coordination: Organize and conduct safety orientations and training sessions for employees to enhance awareness and compliance.Incident Management: assist in the reporting and investigation of workplace incidents, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up actions.Compliance Monitoring: Regularly assess workplace practices to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and industry standards.Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety audits, inspections, and incidents. Prepare regular reports for management on safety performance and trends.Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend preventive measures.Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to promote a culture of safety and ensure all safety protocols are followed.Emergency Preparedness: Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans and conduct drills as necessary.Administrative Support:
- Assist with new hire safety orientation.
- Support monthly and yearly OH&S statistical reporting.
- Help administer the Corporate Vehicle Program, including reviewing driver’s abstracts and traffic violations.
- Manage the booking and administration related to Fitness for Duty testing.
- Oversee ISN accounts, Avetta, and ComplyWorks.
- Assist with meeting minutes and other documentation.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Inspections at the office and on site
- Maintain safety inventory and ordering
- JOHSC duties
Required Skills and Abilities
- Detail-oriented, with an emphasis on quality of work
- Use tact, discretion, and good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
- Class 5 driver’s license required
Required Experience
- Strong understanding of Canadian health and safety legislation and best practices is an asset.
- Construction experience is an asset
- HSA designation or working towards is an asset
