What you will do:

  • Create high-quality, clear, actionable, “must-have research” content based on research best practices and methodologies in financial services in the topic of core systems. Specific focus areas will include strategy, business value, best practices, market trends, technologies and vendors of our target audience including CIOs and product leaders at vendors. Gartner defines core systems as the critical “books and records” that track customer accounts across banking (commercial, retail) and investment services (private banking, wealth management, asset management, trust accounting, brokerage, etc.)
  • Broad spectrum of the market, and produce innovative, thought-leading, impactful, analytically-deep, fact-based research.
  • Serving as an authority on core system optimization, modernization, and transformation
  • Creating both provocative and pragmatic “must have” thought provoking research and advice on best and emerging practices for CIOs, IT and Line of Business (LOB) leaders and vendors alike to support the digital transformation of a bank or an investment firm
  • Supporting our sales and client service teams in delivering insight to clients and prospects. Presenting core systems research and related thought leadership in one-to-one and one-to-many forums, including client presentations and Gartner events
  • Build your personal brand as a functional expert to drive Gartner’s research, methodology and strategy
  • Provide high-quality and timely research peer review. Provide mentorship and support to team members.
  • Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the financial services research community.

What are we looking for:

  • 12+ years of total experience
  • 8+ years’ experience at a financial institution, technology provider, or systems integrator with increasing scope and responsibility related to core system implementation and ongoing system modernization.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with the technologies that power banks and investment firms, such as core accounting systems (Trust Platforms, Brokerage Systems, Core banking systems, Managed Account Platforms, Retirement Record Keeping Platforms, etc.),
  • A background in or understanding of Vendor selection of applications from providers like Envestnet, FIS, Fiserv, InvestCloud, Temenos, Avaloq, Objectway, Broadridge, Jack Henry, SEI, FNZ, Morningstar, Salesforce, Bloomberg and others. A knowledge of implementing important technologies such as AI, APIs, cloud, digital platforms, or data management is a plus.
  • Experience in working in AI/ML teams at a financial firm or exposure through working with vendors aligned to financial firms with increasing scope and responsibility is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions.
  • Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders
  • Moderate willingness to travel; though primarily a virtual role, Analysts occasionally have opportunities for domestic and international travel.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 150,000 USD – 190,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
