Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.Unposting Date: 2024-11-04 11:59 PMYour roleWe are looking for a meticulous, creative, and resourceful individual to create and enhance journalistic content for various digital platforms at Radio-Canada Ottawa-Gatineau.Under the supervision of the Web Producer for Continuous News, you will be responsible for covering general news in the National Capital Region.Your main task will be creating digital video content on current events, whether through editing footage shot by colleagues or sourced from the web, covering live events, or producing original explanatory videos. All of this will be in formats and tones suited for a digital audience. You understand that a winning formula for web and social media content lies in mastering the unique codes of these platforms, and you thrive in innovative and collaborative team environments.You will work closely with the digital teams across the station and network to maximize the reach of our productions on the web and social media. You combine visual insight, critical thinking, and strong writing skills, and you excel at building connections with diverse audiences.You are proficient in CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices, and you understand the importance of delivering accurate and relevant information. You strike the right balance between creating engaging experiences and producing content that clearly and concisely addresses important, complex issues.Your responsibilities:Quickly publish video segments on breaking news, in 16:9 or vertical format.Convey the station’s editorial line and positioning through video content.Choose daily news topics to develop in collaboration with web producers or lead web editors, in various formats.Cover events in the field and host live segments.Create content, such as explanatory videos, that go beyond simple segments by utilizing a range of resources (on-set journalist, graphic elements, etc.).Collaborate with reporters deploying original multi-platform stories, plan the video approach ahead of time, and produce vertical video content when appropriate for the topic.Stay up-to-date with visual content added by different CBC/Radio-Canada units to assess its potential regional use.Propose content ideas and digital formats, showing originality in your suggested approach.Ensure the publishing and quality control of video content on the website and the station’s various digital properties.Keep up with the latest trends in video communication.Prioritize, develop, and manage the video and social media content deployment schedule, focusing on content that is likely to engage the public and be shared.Moderate comments on Radio-Canada’s digital platforms and ensure compliance with netiquette.Collaborate with other units to produce videos, particularly with the Videojournal, Téléjournal Ottawa-Gatineau, the programming sector, and the CBC Ottawa digital team.Have flexibility to work evenings or weekends, depending on news events and available resources.Your profile:University degree or relevant combination of education and experience.At least five (5) years of relevant experience in producing and publishing digital content (e.g., content structures and schedules, video and audio content publishing, social media, content management systems).Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills, with great attention to detail.Strong editorial judgment and the ability to identify engaging and impactful topics.Team player with a collaborative approach.Advanced knowledge of Avid, Adobe Premiere, Rush, After Effects, and other similar visual editing software.Strong interpersonal skills; ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities simultaneously while interacting with various teams in the organization.Proven commitment to inclusion and diversity in the workplace.Excellent audio and video editing skills.Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices – an asset.Web analytics knowledge – an asset.Familiarity with Radio-Canada’s digital production tools (Scoop, Picto, Transit, Mediacentral, Medianet) – an asset.Knowledge of photography and video shooting – an asset.Knowledge of English – an asset.Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.CBC/Radio-Canada is committed to being a leader in reflecting our country’s diversity.
