Join a team of next generation thinkers.WHAT TO EXPECTThe Battery Engineering Department is at the forefront of designing, developing, and engineering all JLR batteries, whether crafted in-house or sourced externally. Our team is a dynamic matrix organisation comprising designers, test and validation engineers, and program leaders.Lead Engineers are pivotal to our battery engineering design maturation process. They ensure that our design team operates cohesively and aligns with program assumptions. Additionally, our integration team provides comprehensive technical reporting on design progress towards virtual builds and test milestones as specified in our Requirements Management & Design Verification System.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIn this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of 12V batteries, from A-D samples, ensuring that key attributes meet targets in quality, cost, weight, function, and timing. You will lead and resolve cross-functional issues across departments and centres of competence (CoC) functions, maintaining up-to-date Design Verification (DV) requirements and reporting statuses for each program.You will play a crucial role in escalating and communicating issues and roadblocks, offering solutions within power and energy management, powertrain, and vehicle domains. Your responsibilities include compiling and presenting major gateway status reports to Vehicle and Powertrain teams, managing project cadence, ensuring transparent communication, and leading design reviews to establish compatibility across teams.Supporting Program Engineers, you will input into the Automated Issue Management System (AIMS) and drive issue closure in line with vehicle gateways. Building robust relationships with stakeholders and tracking conformance plans and deviation completion requirements against gateways will also be key aspects of your role.If you are driven by innovation and have a passion for advancing battery technology, we invite you to join our team and contribute to the future of automotive engineering at JLR.WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Knowledge of battery and/or power management systems
  • Knowledge of battery management system
  • Familiar with battery cell safe operation boundaries
  • Good knowledge of AUTOSAR, SOTA, Cyber Security, Diagnostics and Functional Safety
  • Ability to provide strong and clear direction to suppliers
  • Strong capabilities in problem definition and problem-solving techniques
