CAMH is Canada’s largest academic health sciences centre dedicated to mental health and addiction. The Geriatric Mental Health Services (GMHS) is dedicated to the provision of specialized, interprofessional assessment, treatment, consultation, and follow-up services to older persons with mental illness and addiction. GMHS has a strong research focus component, aiming primarily to enhance understanding of the variability of treatment responses in older persons, conducting research involving brain imaging, genetics, digital interventions and cognitive remediation. Enabling tailored approaches to care for this population with medication and other treatments. Such approaches can then enhance treatment efficacy and reduce adverse experiences in the care of late life mental health disorders.Position Description:Reporting to the Research Operations Manager, the Geriatric Mental Health Services is currently seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Research Manager to support on-going research activities, with a focus on a large multi-center research project. This integrated care project aims to investigate effective management of behavioural symptoms of dementia by implementing a technology-enabled integrated care pathway in long term care homes in Ontario. The manager will oversee the research project, including:
- Overseeing and managing all aspects of the study, participant recruitment and enrollment
- Collaborating with study investigators and stakeholders
- Managing human resources including recruitment, hiring, training, and daily supervision of staff
- Providing fiscal management, monitor key performance indicators and supporting the reporting obligations associated with the research project
- Ensuring adherence to REB and regulatory requirements
- Supporting in grant writing and submission
- Supporting division-wide initiatives, including centralized participant recruitment, community engagement, knowledge translation activities
The successful candidate will work with the Research Operations, Services and Support Office to ensure alignment of research operations, meet and maintain institutional, regulatory standards and department requirements, including Legal, Information and Privacy Office, Research Ethics Board, Finance, People and Experience, Quality Assurance.As a key member of the team, the successful incumbent will be expected to work collaboratively on projects with cross functional teams. The incumbent will champion and lead initiatives that support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable policies, procedures and legislation. This position is located at 1025 Queen Street West, with travel between sites, as necessary.You will possess a Masters degree in a clinical research related field in the mental health domain (e.g. psychology, neuroscience, epidemiology, etc.) and at least three (3) years of clinical research experience.The candidate will have demonstrated experience in hospital/grant accounting and reporting as well as proven analytical, organizational, conceptual, and decision making skills in a dynamic fast paced environment. Specific experience in clinical trials is an asset. Experience managing staff is required and management in a unionized environment is an asset. The candidate will possess superior leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal. Candidates require the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language are an asset.
