Course Description:

Introduction to theoretical and empirical research methods and methodology. Identify and critically use research findings on teaching and learning. Understand the role of quantitative, qualitative and participatory research in improving teaching practice and fostering professional development. Design and experimentation of a pedagogical project based on a research approach. Presentation of experimental results at the end-of-study colloquium.

Requirements:

A level of education/experience deemed equiv. may be substituted for the required education and/or experience. Master’s degree in education required; preference will be given to a doctorate in education related to the subject of the course; – At least one of : Recent full-time teaching experience in a school or school board administration, including two years of Ont. Curriculum implementation with a specialist qualification in elementary education, OR Current refereed research record in elementary education, OR Recent comprehensive examination (Ph. D) in elementary education; – Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario context as it relates to elementary education; – Proven ability to apply the Ontario College of Teachers’ Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics; – The University may consider experience or qualifications equivalent to those listed above.
