This interdisciplinary team consists of software engineers and infrastructure specialists working together to solve complex problems that span development and infrastructure. The team is responsible for building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, test automation scripts, and enabling efficient infrastructure provisioning for new services.The Team Lead at YouLend is accountable for the technical and delivery outcomes for their team. This is a leadership role and when required, you are expected to write code and meaningfully contribute to the design of our systems. You should be able to understand, articulate and consider technical problems, and represent the work of your team both internally and externally and the value that brings to our customers.RequirementsTechnical Leadership:
- Lead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, developer setup tools, and test automation frameworks.
- Guide the team in owning infrastructure provisioning, ensuring that new services are provisioned efficiently and reliably.
- Support and troubleshoot complex, high-impact issues related to software development, automation, and infrastructure.
- Design and review architectural changes that enhance the developer experience and streamline deployment processes.
- Identify root causes of issues in the engineering and infrastructure organization and implement effective process and technology improvements.
- Implement Agile methodologies to streamline workflows and deliver incremental improvements in developer tooling, infrastructure, and support. Manage the team’s backlog and sprints
Quality and Productivity:
- Foster a culture of automation, encouraging comprehensive testing and validation for all internal tools and systems.
- Ensure that work is managed effectively, balancing short-term improvements with long-term infrastructure goals.
- Proactively unblock team members by addressing bottlenecks related to tooling, infrastructure, and process inefficiencies.
- Maintain high velocity and cadence in delivering new features and capabilities for internal systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Provide technical advice and support to multiple work streams, collaborating with both software engineering and infrastructure teams.
- Align the enablement team’s work with broader engineering and business strategies, contributing to the success of other teams by improving their efficiency.
- Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that infrastructure and developer tools are aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Act as a technical liaison between development teams and infrastructure teams, ensuring smooth collaboration and delivery of shared goals.
Team Development and Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and retain a top-tier interdisciplinary team of software engineers and infrastructure specialists.
- Participate in hiring, ensuring that candidates are well-aligned with the technical and cultural needs of the team and the organization.
- Provide constructive feedback and foster a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team.
- Ensure that new joiners are successfully onboarded and set up for success in their roles.
- Manage interpersonal dynamics within the team and resolve conflicts while promoting an inclusive and diverse team culture.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure the team takes ownership of the systems they build, from CI/CD pipelines to infrastructure provisioning and developer tools.
- Actively manage incidents (as incident manager) that affect the team’s area of responsibility, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
- Escalate issues to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner, providing actionable insights and resolutions.
- Proactively optimize the team’s workflows, ensuring continuous improvements in tooling, automation, and infrastructure.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2+ years in a team lead or engineering leadership role. Experience with developer tooling, DevOps practices, and automation is highly preferred.
- Strong technical background in software development practices, with experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automation, version control systems (Git), and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Hands-on experience with developer tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and other similar tools to enable and support development workflows.
- Demonstrated experience with architecting, developing, and maintaining systems that enable and empower other teams within a software organization.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of addressing complex, high-impact technical and operational issues.
- Deep understanding of operational excellence and incident management for internal systems.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a technical team, providing guidance and fostering professional development. Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with both software development and infrastructure management is big plus
