The Opportunity
Thompson Rivers University is seeking an inspiring and visionary leader to serve as its next President & Vice Chancellor. Reporting to the Board of Governors, the President & Vice Chancellor will be responsible for the overall strategic, academic, and operational leadership of the university. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring TRU continues to be a leader in higher education and a catalyst for community development and social change.

As President & Vice Chancellor, you will develop and implement a compelling vision and strategy that aligns with TRU’s mission, values, and goals. This involves leading the university through the next phase of growth and innovation, ensuring continued excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement. You will be expected to foster a culture of academic excellence and inclusivity, supporting the development of innovative programs and interdisciplinary initiatives that meet the evolving needs of students and the community.

A key aspect of this role involves strengthening TRU’s position as a key community partner. You will build strong relationships with government, industry, Indigenous communities, alumni, and other stakeholders to advance the university’s strategic objectives. Your leadership will ensure the effective management of TRU’s resources, including financial, human, and physical assets, while promoting a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement across all areas of the university.

Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in senior leadership in the post-secondary sector. The successful candidate will possess exceptional relationship-building skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including government, industry, Indigenous communities, and the broader public. The new President & Vice Chancellor will have a deep commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within the university community. A terminal degree, such as a Ph.D. or Ed.D., is preferred, along with significant experience in academia.

The current maximum salary for the role is $320,000 plus pension and benefits.
