Cloud computing has the potential to help tackle some of the largest challenges in research and also to democratise access to the tools and compute. You will join a friendly and supportive Public Sector team, working together to bring the latest in cloud computing technologies to our customers, including: government agencies, state-owned companies, educational institutions, healthcare and non-profit organisations. Our Public Sector teams help customers build a deeper understanding of cloud technology and application architectures, so they can benefit from everything cloud technology has to offer.In this role you will help our customers:

  • Accelerate the time to science.
  • Reduce costs to increase the scale of computational experimentation.
  • Support academics to deliver excellent science with greater speed, flexibility and security.
  • Get the most out of the cloud at every stage of their technical journey.

Key job responsibilities
As AWS Solutions Architect, you will have ownership of the technical relationship with customers, making recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability, operational efficiency and best-practice architectures.Internally, you will be an advocate acting on behalf of the customer to help drive continual improvements to AWS services, sharing their needs and wants to inform the roadmap of AWS features and services. You will also help shape the future of the Solutions Architecture organisation by helping to hire, coach and mentor others, and find opportunities to improve the way we work.In this role, your creativity will link technology to tangible solutions, with the opportunity to define and invent cloud-native reference architectures with the worldwide AWS Solutions Architect community.You will own or participate in the creation and sharing of best practices, technical content and new reference architectures (e.g. white papers, code samples, blog posts) and evangelise and educate about AWS technology (e.g. through workshops, user groups, meetups, public speaking, online videos or conferences).If you can educate AWS customers about the art of the possible, while imagining the impossible, come build the future with us.Please apply if you are passionate about the following:

  • Actively engaging with the academic community and research funders to identify opportunities for cloud based research and assist in the preparation of proposals for funding bodies.
  • Collaborating with customers and partners to tackle challenges, implementation and the migration of research workloads into the AWS cloud.

– Experience within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
– Experience in design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures
– Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clientsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS– Experience in infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking
– Experience working with end user or developer communities
– Assist in the planning and preparation of research proposals.
– Working knowledge of HPC schedulers and distributed/parallel file systems, underlying IT systems, and the HPC development process
