Collins Aerospace has the capabilities, comprehensive portfolio, and expertise to solve customers’ toughest challenges and to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global market.The Precision Navigation, within the Collins Resilient Navigation Systems (RNS) business unit, is seeking an experienced Engineering Leader to join our dynamic, diverse, and rapidly growing team as the Department Manager (DM) to lead the Precision Navigation Portfolio Systems and Software Engineering Department. The DM in this role will be responsible for systems and software engineering development, program execution, and new business pursuits including proposals.What You Will Do
- Decision-maker regarding department personnel, including staffing coordination and employee skill development to ensure the department has an acceptable skill mix of engineering discipline to support Precision Navigation programs and pursuits
- Support engineering initiatives such as common DOORS database and requirements management process, Modeling and Simulation tool development, and more
- Department employee talent development through training, experiences, mentorship and hiring
- Participation in strategy sessions to augment department staffing capabilities
- Work with HR partners to ensuring diversity within the organization
- Implement/sustain process improvements within the department
- Gather relevant data to support monthly Engineering Ops Review to ensure the overall successful execution of all aspect of department activities
- Champion, implement, and sustain engineering transformation initiatives (Agile, Model Based Systems Engineering – MBSE, metrics / reporting, etc.)
- Possess career experience and demonstrated technical acumen in communication product technologies
- Provide Engineering Leadership by leading section managers, leveraging core capabilities, and identifying opportunities for innovation across Systems and Software Engineering
- Approximately 25% occasional travel to the following sites Aberdeen, MD, Marlborough, MA, Cedar Rapids, IA, or Fullerton, CA is required
Qualifications You Must Have
- 4-6 years of experience in managing engineering or project teams significant in size (50+) either direct or indirect
- Good interpersonal skills, including ability and desire to communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with others throughout Precision Navigation engineering and business leadership
- Experience leading a technical team of System Engineers and Analysts, system integration and test, and software engineers
- Experience interfacing and working across multi-organizational structures including internal and external organizations
- Experience working with customers on technical and program alignment
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills to proactively communicate program status, staffing needs, issues and associated resolution plans across all major stakeholders including Raytheon senior management
- Experience with the bidding process and proposal development; managing EVMS, IMS, & IMPs on many IPTs or Programs • Exceptional oral and written communication
- Working knowledge and experience with radar (cooperative and non-cooperative), GPS, and navigation domains
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
