We are committed to environmental sustainability, superior quality and excellent customer service.POSITION SUMMARY:The Production Supervisor, reporting to the Production Manager, will lead a team of hourly plant production employees. The holder of this position will supervise the rendering production facility in Dundas, Ontario with a focus on health and safety activities, product quality and optimize the use of resources. The successful candidate will also promote staff development. This role is rotating shifts.SCHEDULE: Rotating Shifts-Days, Afternoons and NightsPOSITION TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must be available for Rotating Shifts
- Maintain and build an environment conducive to productive and positive relationships with employees
- Support and train hourly production employees and serve as a mentor and coach to ensure the successful development of their own staff.
- Assume a leadership role in the health and safety program and help to create the health and safety annual plan for the establishment
- Ensure current and future compliance with all standards, including the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the CFIA, HACCP
- Monitor and generate reports on production related performance
- Lead and complete projects as assigned by the Production Manager
- Encourage process improvements in all operational functions
- Support the implementation of capital and operational improvements
- Organize and lead production team meetings/training as required
- Maintain positive relationships with both hourly and managerial staff members
- Train to operate production equipment when needed
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- The preferred candidate will have between 3 and 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing production environment.
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in engineering, science or a related technical field an asset
- Experience in a supervisory capacity promoting a teamwork approach
- Experience in coaching and mentoring to assist in successful staff development
- Ability to work independently and take initiative with a positive outlook
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Proven ability to perform multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment
- High level of computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of Oracle and Kronos a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to cooperate and build relationships with other functional areas and other facilities within Darling Ingredients
