The Fort Worth City Attorney’s Office is a collegial team of legal professionals providing excellent legal service to the City of Fort Worth. As an in-house legal department, we practice in a wide range of civil and criminal law on behalf of and for the City, including general counsel, litigation, and prosecutorial areas. An Administrative Services Manager position is available with the City of Fort Worth City Attorney’s Office. This position will report directly to the City Attorney and will oversee the administrative functions of the department. This position currently has three direct reports: the Senior Administrative Assistant, the Senior Legal Assistant for the Transactional Division (who manages the Transactional Division legal assistants), and the Senior Legal Assistant for the Litigation Division (who manages the Litigation Division legal assistants).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with course work in Business Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field.
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible and complex administrative, fiscal, personnel and management experience, including one year in a supervisory capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Municipal experience.
- Law office experience.
- Experience managing a diverse team.
- Experience managing and coordinating the fiscal functions of a department or office.
- Excellent relationship building skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The Administrative Services Manager job responsibilities include:
- Supervises, manages and coordinates human resources and fiscal functions for the department.
- Participates in the development, analysis, formulation and administration of the department budget.
- Participates in special projects including research of new programs and services, budget analysis and preparation.
- Represents the department to other departments; coordinates department activities with those of other departments and outside agencies and organizations.
- Assists in administering assigned contracts and negotiating and preparing difficult requests for proposals or contracts with service providers and vendors; monitors work progress and ensure adherence to project schedule and budgets.
- Provides complex staff guidance to the department’s senior management team; prepares and presents staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary.
- Participates in the development and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, polices and priorities.
- Performing other related duties as required.
Working Conditions
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
Physical Demands
Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
